My favourite releases of the week (18/07/2025)
Whilst I’m sure there were many good albums from last weeks release list I didn’t check that many of them out this time around. Sometimes life gets in the way. In this instance I was very busy playing video games with my wife and have no regrets. However, I did manage to listen to a handful of albums and have decided to just do a short update to highlight two that I thought were very good.
The first album I wanted to highlight is by Swedish death metal band Filth. Anyone who knows my taste will understand why this is so far up my street it’s moved in with me. Cavernous, lumbering death metal that doesn’t best to bludgeon you. It has doom elements but I wouldn’t go as far as to label this as death/doom, it’s still very much a death metal album. On top of that that is also the bands debut album so they are definitely one to watch out for. One to check out if you’re a death metal fan.

The second album I wanted to mention this week comes from the reals of black metal. ‘Hollow Fangs’ is the third full length album by Black Metal band Oskoreien. This is more than your standard black metal fare, the variation in tempo as well as pairing more melodic moments with the intense heaviness makes it a much more dynamic listen. This was my first experience with the band and one I throughly enjoyed.

Overall, whilst I didn’t check out that much new music this week, I did find two bands that were new to me to keep tabs on. Success.
Hails!
